We got married over the holidays and I cannot be happier! Michael and I ditched everything about our original plan (except for the photographer and florist) because things were quickly getting out of hand. All of a sudden, everything clearly became more about THE wedding day than being husband and wife. We didn't like that. We felt like the focus was more on the extravagance of it all. We're pretty simple people so we decided on an intimate wedding instead.
Michael and I had our wedding at The Foundry in Long Island City on Friday, December 23rd. We can't be happier with our choice. The Albra Room was the perfect fit for our intimate wedding. The Foundry is a stunning venue and the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. Lindsey and Angelica were wonderful to work with. They went above and beyond our expectations. We celebrated with an intimate dinner party at Maiella following the ceremony. We had been to the restaurant before and loved their food and interior design. Veronika and Daniel were very professional and accommodating. Our 7 course dinner was lovely- all of our guests had a wonderful time.
Our wedding wouldn't have been as pretty without the work of Victoria and her team at Designs by Ahn. The flowers were beautiful! Designs by Ahn really listened to what we wanted and were able to execute the vision we had successfully. I honestly enjoyed trekking to their studio because I loved staring at their arrangements. What's a wedding without something sweet? We were happy to come across Aloriacakes NYC on Instagram. After stalking them for weeks, we decided to have them make our wedding cake. Anastasia was swamped with orders that week but she came through and delivered a beautiful cake!
I am super excited to see the photos from our wedding. Our photographer, Lauren of LSOWA Photography was amazing (as always). I am so glad that Michael found her on Thumbtack when he was planning his proposal. She's been a part of our engagement and we're very happy that she was able to be a part of our wedding as well.
We also wouldn't have been able to truly enjoy our wedding weekend without the totally lovely staff at The Boro Hotel in LIC. They were absolutely professional, friendly and accommodating. We had such a great time having the hotel as our wedding day base. Also, their kitchen menu has surprisingly delightful dishes! We were quite impressed but more on that in another post.
One of our favorite parts of the day was our rendezvous to Big Alice Brewery immediately after the ceremony! We both really like their beers so we thought "why not?". We were extremely lucky because the brewery was empty. The only people who were there were the crew of Big Alice Brewery. They were so awesome and let us take pictures at their brewing space!
Our wedding was definitely the highlight of 2016. I am so happy that we're finnaly married and I am looking forward to our 2017 adventures.
