May 2016 Favorites!

As you can see, pretty much all of my May favorites were highstreet products. Michael and I have been in serious wedding mode and I can't be spending money at Sephora willy-nilly [insert crying face emoji here]. On the bright side, I did pick up a few things from the drugstore recently and couple of them are featured here.

Face- I have been alternating between Maybelline's FIT Me foundation and e.l.f.'s Foundation Serum. If you've been a long-time reader, you already know that I love the Maybelline FIT Me foundation. It's something that I continually purchase when I run out. However, I recently bought the Foundation Serum from e.l.f. not too long ago and I've been enjoying it a lot. It's perfect for the summer season- it doesn't give a lot of coverage and it has SPF 25 which is very important to me during the warmer months. I mostly use it during the weekends when I know I'm not going to be out all day because I'm not sure if it's long-lasting.

Powders- I am all about being bronze and tanned during the summer hence bronzers are a must for me. My 2 favorites for May are actually items that I've never tried before. I've heard so many great things about Rimmel's Waterproof Bronzing Powder (and I love Rimmel's Stay Matte Pressed Powder) so I decided to give it a try. I am really glad I did because I have been using it everyday! I also recently purchased e.l.f.'s Bronzer Palette and it's become one of my favorite bronzers. I mostly prefer bronzers to be more matte but there are days when I want a nice glow as well and I feel that the e.l.f. bronzer does the job beautifully.

Blushes- There's something about Milani blushes that make me associate them with warmer weather. I find myself reaching for my Milani blushes more often in the spring and summer. I am a sucker for their blushes in general but I especially love their baked blush in Luminoso and powder blush in Coral Cove. I love how both products give my face life when I drag myself in the morning to get ready.

Eyes- I have been priming my lids with Wet N Wild's Photofocus Eyeshadow Primer for months now and I will tell you right now that I'll be using it for the rest of the year! I rarely find a really good eyeshadow primer at the drugstore and when I found this, I fell in love and stocked up. Need I say more? Moving on, I recently purchased the Avant POP! palette from NYX and let me just take this time to tell you how gorgeous it is! I am a NYX fan but I am not into all of their eyeshadow palettes. I love the Butt Naked Palette and I think it's one of the most underrated palettes within the YouTube community. I also had the NYX Nude on Nude Palette and the Dream Catcher Palette in Dusk 'til Dawn and I wasn't that taken by them. So, when I saw the Avant POP! display at Target, I was on the fence about it. But, considering that I've tried pretty much all of the eyeshadow palettes from the drugstore, I decided to give this one a shot. I am so glad I did! First of all, the colors are gorgeous! There are 10 shades in total with 1 true matte, 3 semi-mattes and 6 metallic shades. The formula is buttery soft and it blends like a dream! I am very happy with this $18 purchase. I've also been using Wet N Wild's Fanatic Cat Eye Mascara and I'm actually surprised that I like it! I've tried all of Wet N Wild mascaras and I only really like one (the purple tube) so when I tried this, I wasn't expecting much. But it really does give me a nice elongated lash look. My only issue with this is that I wish it also comes in waterproof.

Pencils- In the summer, I tend to stay away from heavy eye liners but I was still using them in May. I've been testing out the Wet N Wild H2O Proof Eyeliner and I'm quite impressed with how long it stays on, even with sweat. The felt tip is kind of tricky to work with but I actually like the challenge so I've been using it a lot. Another liner that I've been using a lot in May was the NYC Showtime Kohl Kajal Eyeliner. I actually had forgotten that I even bought it until I was reorganizing my vanity. I eventually started to use it. At first, I was really intimidated by it- it looks like a straight up crayon! I found a way to make it work for me, I use a lip liner brush to scrape off some product and that's what I use to line my eyes. This technique is definitely not for those mornings when you oversleep!

Lips- I've also been a very loyal fan of Maybelline's Baby Lips lip balm. Ever since I got it at MBFW when it first came out, I haven't used anything else! It hydrates my lips without feeling gross and greasy! It feels like velvet! With that said, I have 3 lipsticks favorites in May: one from NYX, Jordana and Flower Cosmetics. I don't know if it's obvious enough but I like to stick to nudes and pinks in spring and summertime.
