While I have been checking out new products (or at least, new to me), I'm apprehensive about trying new makeup in the winter. I have really sensitive skin so during the colder months, I tend to stick to products that I know won't clash with my skin. With that said, foundation is definitely something that I don't even bother changing. I may get something new but I'll only play around with it when I'm home. The same could be said about skincare- it's just too much to risk for me. That still leaves me with a lot to experiment with: eye shadows, blushes, concealers, lipsticks...
I am obsessed with Rimmel's Stay Matte Powder. I actually bought this as a present for someone else but I ended up keeping it because I've heard so many great things about it so Igave in to the temptation and kept it. I apply it right after I apply my moisturizer, before I put on makeup. I recently realized that I have hooded eyes and that caused a bit of a panic because I LOVE SHIMMERY EYE SHADOWS! More than half of my palettes are shimmery and I'm not ready to part with them yet. So, rather than getting rid of my palettes, I've been using my Tartelette Amazonian Clay Palette almost every single day. This is honestly my number one favorite matte palette as of the moment.
Also, I've been busy trying my best to contour properly. I've never bothered with it until my sister did it on me for my engagement party. Since then, I've been working on my contouring skills. So, I guess it comes without a surprise that I've been gradually trying various contouring palettes. But right now, I AM OBSESSED with Maybelline's Fit Me Foundation Stick! I only use it for contouring and it's amazing- it glides on my skin smoothly, it blends so effortlessly and it lasts for a while when used with my setting spray.
Speaking of Maybelline, I've been using the Master Conceal by Face Studio and so far, I've been loving it. It's creamy and it doesn't settle in creases. I put this on before my foundation and then I apply Benefit's Boing Concealer on top of it. They work flawlessly together! I've also been using Maybelline's Lash Sensational mascara. I bought this in the summer but recently, I've been using it because of the gloomy East Coast weather. I don't know if you've heard but we had this snow storm called 'Jonas' and it wasn't pretty. What I'm trying to say is that I wear a hat, I wrap a blanket scarf around my neck and it covers most of my face. Sometimes, I even have my hood over my head/face when it gets super cold. For those who have never experienced this: what happens is that when you breathe, condensation happens within your scarf and you're left with a messy face. I've been wearing the water proof Lash Sensational mascara and it does not budge- not even when my face is getting hit by snow coming from all direction!
Wet N Wild Cosmetics was a big hit for me last month. I picked up one of their new eyeliners and I've been using it for my brows. I really love it! In fact, aside from the Anastasia Brow Wiz, this is the only thing that really works for me. I love it so much that I actually bought another one just so I'm stocked up. I've been using a lot of different lipsticks but I keep going back to Sand Storm by Wet N Wild. It's just a gorgeous shade of nude- I love it! The last Wet N Wild product I have for my January favorites is my Wet N Wild blush in Mellow Wine. I feel like it's just the perfect shade for winter.
Speaking of winter and everything being so gloomy, the City Glow Bronzer by Physicians Formula is a life saver! I like to use it as a setting powder. It really gives a beautiful healthy glow to the skin and I love that it has SPF 30!
