LIC Flea & Food kicked off its 2017 season with a huge turn out and sunny skies. The best food festival in Queens has over 80 vendors, selling goodies from stickers and magnets, tacos and briskets and one-of-a-kind furniture. I have been loyal LIC Flea & Food attendees for a couple of years. It's my favorite place to discover amazing local food and Saturday's event did not let me down.
Local Eats: Breakfast at White Noise Coffee
I just want to say how happy we are that more places like this are popping up in the neighborhood. We love seeing variety for breakfast! White Noise Coffee is located in Flushing, Queens and it offers more than your regular cup of joe. They have quite a selection of typical coffee shop pastries but they also have some tasty treats from Underwest Donuts.
Jolii Cosmetics Pop Up Shop at Lockwood Astoria
I was able to go to Lockwood Astoria's Ladies Who Brunch event on Saturday, March 25th. The event featured two pop up shops: one withJolii Cosmeticsand one withLisa and Lucy NY. I was particularly interested in purchasing some goodies from Jolii Cosmetics. I came across the brand on Instagram and really wanted to buy a couple of their products. I was so excited to find out that the brand was having a pop up shop at one of my favorite local boutiques.
See Your City: The Met Cloisters
The Met Cloisters is an entire separate location from the museum's 5th Avenue main site. It is located in Fort Tryon Park in Manhattan. The commute might seem intimidating at first but if all subway and bus lines are running, it really shouldn't be a hinder.
Local Eats: Joah NYC in Flushing, Queens
With the inconsistent weather over the weekend, we didn't have interest in taking the subway to go out for brunch. Instead, we decided to have brunch somewhere within walking distance from where we were at the time. I had been meaning to check out a new restaurant in Flushing for a while now, so that's where Michael and I went for brunch. I'm talking about Joah- a Korean restaurant that opened in late January of this year.
Q&A with Basil Lee of Finback Finback Brewery
I was lucky enough to sit with Basil Lee, one of the owners ofFinback Brewery located in Glendale, Queens NY. It was a great chat and I got to spend a bit more time exploring the spacious taproom and I got to hang in the back with all the cool tanks and barrels. I had every intention of putting this up earlier but then I got married and then Christmas and more holidays kept happening. In a way, it worked out. NYC Craft Beer week starts this Friday February 24th .
Drugstore Haul: Wet N Wild Liquid Catsuit Lipsticks
I am a sucker for good drugstore makeup so when I came across the Wet N Wild Megalast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipsticks, I got so excited! I bought every shade that was in the display. I was only able to get 4 shades but luckily, after days of searching, I found more at another drugstore. I grabbed the rest of the shades that I was missing. I haven't been this thrilled about a makeup purchase in a long time! These liquid lipsticks are so amazing!
Makeup Drawer: LORAC California Dreaming Eyeshadow Palette
I don't have any of the LORAC Pro Palettes but I've such great things about them. I was actually torn between getting this palette or one of the Pro palettes but the price point of the California Dreaming Palette definitely pushed me towards getting it. I really appreciate palettes that aren't a part of any series and that element about this particular palette also made me want to get it. Not to mention, I found myself attracted to the colors in this palette
